Trail Riding Information
To ensure your enjoyment and safety while on our trail rides, HorsePlay Niagara observes the following guidelines:
We offer a 5% cash discount. We also accept all major credit cards, however we do not accept debit.
Just a wee reminder to please leave your four-footed friends at home where they are comfortable and safe.
Dogs and other animals, while lovely, are not welcome at the farm. Bringing a strange dog to a different environment is unfair to the dog and could scare both children and horses. We have many visitors here who love horses but are terrified of dogs.
All riders are required to wear an ASTM approved horseback riding helmet ( provided free of charge)
A Release of Liability form must be signed for all riders. Children under 18 must have an adult sign for them.
Click here to download our Release Form.
All riders must be at least 6 years old to Trail Ride. NO EXCEPTIONS! Double riding is not permitted.
Children under the age of 9 must be accompanied on the ride by an adult (over 18).
We have a number of large horses that can accommodate riders of most sizes. Riders need to be able to fit into the saddle and be able to hold the horn in front for balance. Occasionally, we must turn away riders because their shape does not allow them to fit into the saddle safely.
Riders must be under 300lbs.
What to Bring
Purses, backpacks and other large or baggy items cannot be carried on the horse as they may restrict your ability to ride. Small cameras, water bottles, ect. Can be carried in a small pouch provided on your saddle.
Long Pants and closed toed shoes are recommended for all riders. Shorts and sandals can be worn however the trails we ride through may include brush that may scratch any uncovered legs.
Plastic rain ponchos and umbrellas are prohibited during inclement weather. Guests may wear rain jackets or coats or we have slickers available to rent for $5 per ride.
For Experienced Riders
All rides are lead by an experienced guide.
All group rides are walk and trot in single file along the trail.
If you would like a galloping ride you must reserve a Private Advanced Ride and all riders in your group must have riding experience.
It is always the guides decision on whether galloping can be done safely.
Some experienced riders request to bring their own horse to use our trails. Unfortunately, for the safety of our horses as well as the many first time riders on our farm we cannot allow any outside horses on our property.
Many of our customer like to show their appreciation of our friendly staff by tipping. The standard is 15-20% - similar to what you would tip a waiter or waitress.
Reservations, Cancellations and Rain Policy
Reservations are required for all Trail Rides.
A valid Credit Card is required for all reservations. For cash payment reservations must be made by calling us at (905) 834-2380, a valid credit card is still required.
For those who do not have a credit card we accept e-transfers for the full ride value sent to email@example.com.
We do not accept Debit cards online or in store.
Please be aware when making a reservation that we are guaranteeing that we will have horses and a guide available for your ride. For this reason we require 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule your ride or to change the number of riders you will be bringing. Cancellations are subject to a $10 fee however there is no fee if you need to reschedule your ride as long as it is done at least 24 hours in advance.
You are required to arrive 30 minutes prior to your ride for instructions.
All rides leave on time. Without 24 hours notice if you do not arrive for your scheduled ride time your credit card will be charged 100% of the ride value. There are no exceptions.
All rides operate rain, snow or shine. In the event of bad weather here we allow you to reschedule your ride to a later date by calling us by 9am the morning of your ride. Same day cancellations will be charged 100% of your ride value.
